Event Feedback 2014

Dear Race Organizers and Workers,
I had the distinct pleasure of riding the 160 km Ox Mtn challenge on May 4th for the first time. In fact it was my first trip to Ireland and the An post tour of Sligo was a high point of my trip. I can’t thank the event organizers and the volunteers enough. What a fabulous event!
Right from my arrival, the people that were managing registration were so friendly and helpful.
I am a celiac and so I was prepared to feed myself, however at this event, in spite of the arduous cycling, you could gain weight! There was so much good food including gluten free sandwiches on good tasting bread (not the saw dust gluten free bread I would get in North America).
Thank you for the welcome and the great ride!

Hi,
I would just like to thank you and your committee for the excellent organisation of the recent 100km Tour of Sligo. Please pass on my compliments to all the volunteers, stewards, Marshalls, Gardai without whom, this event could not have taken place.
Looking forward to next year PG
Regards,

I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you in Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership for yet another brilliant Tour of Sligo last Sunday. A friend and I did the 100k; did not miss last year’s Ladies Brae climb! The entire event is so well organised, from the perfectly arranged sign-on and cycling jersey collection run by such cheerful and helpful people in the Knocknarea Arena to the marshalling and food stops en route. The Coolaney stop worked very well this year and the pasta tubs were perfect. The Ballintogher volunteers were great at saying we were nearly home and had a great system for refilling water bottles.
The cheerfulness and encouragement of the marshals on the route and at junctions is a credit to them, given they are standing, and probably getting cold and wet for hours, while the cyclists are keeping warm and having fun.
If possible, please pass on my thanks to the volunteers and marshals.
All the best,

Thanks very much for the picture – and the personal attention on the day.
I have to say that my experience at the Tour of Sligo is one of the best I’ve had at a sportive event. From the pre-event information, the facilities at the start/finish, friendly and helpful volunteers, excellent feeding stations, good signage, the Gardai keeping all the major junctions safe and even a downhill finish over the last few miles. I could not have asked for more – apart for maybe some divine intervention on the weather front,
Thanks again,

Hi guys,
Just to say thanks for another great tour on Sunday. Everything organised like clockwork as usual.
The only one thing I would say is the road surface up around coolaney is terrible! I know a good few have said the same thing. It was like riding on cobblestones, maybe when the canvassers are out we can use as a bargaining tool!
Thanks again,
Regards

Hi Guys
The cycle was good at the weekend. Pity the weather was not better.
A little feedback:
The route was good but the surface of the road for a lot of the time was very uneven and uncomfortable to cycle. I did the 160km I ran out of water at the end and got very dehydrated. I did not know I had to go to a food stop to get water. I have been on other An Post cycles and there was water stops along the road. Maybe something to point out for next year to have water especially at the last 20/30km. This is my 3rd cycle in Sligo.
Thank you,

Just wanted to say a big thanks for the fantastic tour of Sligo. It was very enjoyable despite the rain and hills, it was very well marshalled, great spread of grub at the stops, and support services were on the ball. Indeed I had to make use of the broom wagon and mechanic for a while in order to get the 160k completed. Credit to all involved. I will be strongly advocating participation in the 2015 event to anyone that will listen to me!!!
Many thanks again,

Once again thank you for a great day on May 4th – as usual it was a really well run event and all your volunteers were most helpful and friendly – we really enjoyed it.
The only thing missing was Bressie not there to greet us at the finish line!!!
Congrats on organising a wonderful event.
Regards

I hope you all are recovering after your gargantuan efforts to make yesterday another fantastic Tour of Sligo.
A huge thank you to you and all your colleagues, the Marshals and Garda who did great work and the army of ladies who so cheerfully provided tons of good food!
It was a brilliant day -Rosy, son in law and I did the 160k which was, as always stunning and fast this year with only moderate wind-missed the bit around Lough gill at the end and that hill out of Dromahair seemed to go on for ever! My other daughter Charlotte who has just had a baby did 100k +her own route back and loved it!
So for an auld fella who had knee in cast (bust tendons-dancing, dangerous activity!!)for winter ,it was a memorable outing thanks to you all-special thanks to Andrea for being so helpful with the family’s late entry!!
Sorry I missed you at the end.
Best wishes from us all,

Sorry I didn’t find you this morning, thoroughly enjoyed the ride, can’t believe how well it was organised and marshalled.
Kind regards,

Fantastic event all round for us participants, but the people who must be applauded is all those 300 volunteers who gave up their personal time to make our day an unforgettable one, so take a bow and thank you one and all.

I’m sure you have a million other things to do but thought I really need to get this one in.
Neither food stop for the 160 km had anything resembling vegetarian food to eat bar some white bread egg sandwiches which I just couldn’t eat, as the white bread was the worst kind, and I can just imagine how commercially produced the eggs were.
Now I don’t really want to sound so ungrateful, but every other sandwich and every pasta bowl had meat in it. And I did ask.
Last year wasn’t much better as I now remember being given some bread in the back kitchen and a banana to make a sandwich.
It won’t happen next year as I will be sure to bring my own sandwiches but thought it really needed to be mentioned. I couldn’t possibly have been the only one looking for a cheese sandwich or even salmon or tuna for those that do eat fish.
Everything else was fab, and the job done for the weekend was outstanding.
Kind regards and many thanks,
Really well marshalled. Food stops all brilliantly stocked with cheery supportive volunteers. Well done to everyone involved in organising and running this great event. It was really enjoyable. I would defiantly recommend it.

Congrats to all involved. A brilliantly organised event. Really enjoyable day. Cannot recommend this event highly enough. An absolute must do for any cyclist level.

Brilliant day today, very well run. Fair play to all the volunteers and Gardai involved.

Congrats on a fabulously well run event on Sunday. Did the 160 and have to say marshalling, Gardai and food stops were all excellent. Was a pity the weather wasn’t better but the event was so well run it was worth the long journey up from Waterford. Chapaeu.

Thanks all a great event.

Great day out. Did the 100km and found it very well marshalled and organised. Well done to all.

Congratulations to the Organisers of this great event and the Marshalls who manned all of the junctions. A very professionally run sportif & most enjoyable.

Thank you to all involved for providing a fantastic day, route, marshals. A must do cycle. We were well fed and looked after.

Well done to all the organisers, super event.

Great event. Well done to all.

Wonderful cycle, well done to all volunteers and marshals. Food stops were unfortunately not stocked up enough, the finish line one didn’t have any cakes/pastry left when we arrived (which was a pity). Well done on the pasta dish, most delicious meal I had in long time on cycle. All in all, I had a fabulous day.

Very we’ll run food stop excellent. Enjoyable day’s cycling.

Great event thanks all.

Great Well Organised Event, Well Done All.

Another fantastic day from start to finish, said it every year, one of the best events around! Well done every single last one of you!

Super event thank you so much to everyone feeding directing and fixing flats. A well-earned drink tonight.

Thank you for running a world class event! There is nothing you could improve on. Well done to all! Can’t wait till next year!

Amazing job! Every cycling event should hope to do the job your staff and volunteers did. Thanks so much.
