Can I enter online?

Yes, you can enter online at www.tourofsligo.ie

Can I enter by post?

Yes. You can enter by post. A downloadable entry form is available on the website or you can call 00 353 (0) 71 91 61511 and we will post an entry form out to you.

What is the closing date for entries?

The closing date for Early Bird Entry is Wednesday 19th April 2017. Late entries (penalties apply) for the 60k, 100k and 160k will be accepted up to 12noon on Tuesday 25th April 2017

What is the entry fee?

Entry fee for the ‘Hazelwood Family Spin’ (10k) and 2km Bike Trail is €3 per person. Entry fee for the ‘Lough Gill Circuit’ (60k) is €35 per person, for the 100Km Innisfree Tour is €45 per person and the ‘Ox Mountain Challenge’ (160k) is €45 per person. These entry fees apply to all entries received by the Early Bird closing date of Wednesday 19th April 2017. However, entries for the 60km, 100Km and 160Km received after the closing date and up to 12noon on Tuesday 25th April 2017 will incur an additional €10 late fee per person. All online entries will incur a 6% transaction fee.  Cycling Ireland member can avail of a 10% discount.

What does my entry fee include?

Your cycle information pack, which will be posted out/emailed to you once entered, this includes; your Acknowledgement/Confirmation receipt (which must be produced on the day at sign-in),  route map, safety information and how to sponsor the charity. On the day you will receive your event number at sign-in, a souvenir long sleeve technical t-shirt (for participants on Sunday 30th April), refreshments en route & a hot meal at the finish, along with cycle support services.

What if I can’t make it to the cycle on the day?

Unfortunately there is no facility for a refund, online entries may transfer their entry to another person, this is the responsibility of the entrant and they must find a replacement person for their entry. This is facilitated through the online system of the active network. Transfers will be closed on the final closing date of Tuesday 25th April 2017.

How can I check that I am entered?

Once you complete the online entry process you will receive a confirmation email straight away to the email address you provided with your event details and link to cycle information pack confirming your entry. Postal entrants will receive confirmation of entry along with an information pack which will be posted out as entries are processed. If you do not receive your confirmation email for online entries or postal entry pack for postal entries before Thursday 27th April contact us immediately on 0719161511.

Can I change from one route to another after registration?

If you have entered online you will be able to access your entry through the active network and change your route distance until the closing date of 25th April 2017, if you have entered the wrong distance by post you need to contact the office on 0719161511 or email info@tourofsligo.ie. You may drop down in route distance at sign-in, you will be required to sign-in as normal under the event you are registered in then come straight to the Help Desk to exchange your number for a new number in the event distance you now wish to complete in and complete the change of event form.

Must I sign-in on the day of the event?

Yes. Every participant must sign-in prior to starting their chosen cycle-route. At the sign-in you will receive your event number, food wristband and long sleeve technical t-shirt (for participants on Sunday 30th April) and tickets for Goody Bag (for participants on Saturday 29th April).

Can I sign-in the evening before the event?

Yes, you can. Sign-in at the Institute of Technology, Knocknarea Arena, Ballinode, Sligo will open the evening before the event from 5pm to 7pm.

What time does Sign In open at on the day?

Sign In Times:

  • 10km Hazelwood Spin for All (9yrs+) Sign-in: Sat 29th April 1.30pm to 2.30pm,    Start: 3pm
  • 2km Bike Trail (6-8yrs) Sign-in: Sat 29th April 1.30pm to 2.30pm, Start: 3pm
  • 60km Lough Gill Circuit Sign-in: Sat 29th April 5.00pm to 7.00pm Sign on: Sun 30th April 9.00am to 10.00am, Start: 10.30am
  • 100km Innisfree Tour Sign-in: Sat 29th April 5.00pm to 7.00pm Sign on: Sun 30th April 8.30am to 9.30am, Start 10am
  • 160km Ox Mountain Challenge Sign-in: Sat 29th April 5.00pm to 7.00pm Sign on: Sun 30th April 7.30am to 8.30am, Start 9.00am

The official start for all routes is the IT Sligo Knocknarea Arena. Please arrive there in good time so that you can enjoy the atmosphere. Stewards will direct all cyclists from the sign-in to the official start.

Is there free car parking?

Yes. Car parking will be provided in the vicinity of the IT Sligo Knocknarea Arena.

Are there changing and shower facilities?

Yes. The IT Sligo Knocknarea Arena is event HQ for the day. Sign-in will take place here as well as changing/shower facilities (with 2,000 people participating, showers may eventually run with cold water due to the large volume of water usage), post-event refreshments of a hot meal will be in the O’Hehir Canteen at IT Sligo in the main college building.

What do I need to bring with me?

A hard shell helmet is compulsory for every participant. Don’t forget your bike, spare tube, pump, gear, food and drinks (there are food stations on the route but it is always safer to bring your own. You will need it!). Your confirmation email or letter for sign-on.

Where are the feeding-stations?

10km Hazelwood Family Spin

There will be 1 water/fruit station at Half Moon Bay, Hazelwood, 5km mark.

60km Lough Gill Circuit

There will be 1 feeding station on this route at St Micheal’s GAA club, Ballintogher at the 33km mark. There will also be a water stop at Coolera House,  Ransboro, 18km.

100km Innisfree Tour

There will be 2 feeding stations on this route. The first will be at Coolaney Community Park, 56km, and the second stop of the day will be at St. Michael’s GAA Club, Ballintogher, 79km.  There will also be a water stop at Coolera House, Ransboro,  18km.

160km Ox Mountain Challenge

There will be 2 feeding stations. The first will be at Bunninadden Community Centre at 76 km,  and the second stop of the day will be in Ballintogher at St. Michaels GAA Clubhouse at 111 km. There will be a water stop at Cloonacool GAA Pitch 59km.

Toilet facilities will be available at feeding stations and all water stops.

Must I be over a certain age?

Yes. For insurance reasons all participants taking part in the ‘Hazelwood Family Spin’ must be aged 9 and over on 29th April 2017, and children under 14 years must be accompanied by parent/ guardian. 2km participants must be a minimum age of 4 on 29th April 2017 and must be accompanied by an adult. For the ‘60k Lough Gill Circuit’ participants must be over 14 years of age on 30th April 2017 and for the ‘100k Innisfree Tour’ and the 160k Ox Mountain Challenge’ participants must be aged 16 years and over on 30th April 2017.


Do I need permission from a parent/guardian to participate?

Yes, if you are under 18 years of age you must have permission from a parent/guardian. All entrants under 18 must get their parent/guardian to sign the relevant parental consent signatory box on the entry form. Online entrants must declare that they have received parental consent and read the terms and conditions applicable.

What will the weather be like?

This is early summer in the North West so pleasant weather should be the order of the day, but as this is Ireland we sometime experience all four seasons in one day, so come prepared for the possibility of cool temperatures and rain, all participants would be well advised to bring some wet weather gear.

What first-aid facilities will be available on the day?

First-Aid will be provided on the day by the Civil Defense, supported by Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Association. There will also be service vehicles (mechanical difficulties) and a sweeping wagon, so if it all gets too much, transport to the finish will be provided where possible. If you do get into difficulty please notify event personnel immediately, you will receive a card with contact number at sign-in .

Where is the official finish?

All routes finish back at the IT Sligo Knocknarea Arena, Ballinode, Sligo, i.e. all routes will start and finish at the same location just adjacent to the event HQ. At the IT Sligo Knocknarea Arena participants can expect refreshments, shower/changing and toilet facilities along with the hot meal served in the O’Hehir Canteen IT Sligo .

Is this cycle for any particular charity?

Yes. We are delighted to announce that Samaritans Sligo is our chosen charity. Cyclists will have the opportunity to donate online (check our website) or may raise funds through a sponsorship card. As a contribution to the charity is not inbuilt into the event fee it is hoped that cyclists will support this worthy fundraiser.
